Mask Mandate Lifted!

February 17, 2022

Attention students, parents, and staff of Las Montañas Charter:

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced on February 22, 2022 the state’s mask mandate has been lifted, effective immediately. The mandate will be lifted for schools, leaving the decision to individual districts.

A survey was conducted with staff and students present on Thursday, February 22, 2022 as well as students contacting parents to get a sense of how the school community felt about the mask mandate being lifted. The majority of individuals surveyed felt comfortable about masks being an individual choice.

Students, staff, and visitors may still wear a face mask if they believe it is the best option for them while on campus but it will not be required. All other Covid Safe Practices will remain in place such as social distancing when possible, staying home when sick or having Covid like symptoms, quarantine for positive individuals, and weekly surveillance testing.
